Had a plentiful and savoury breakfast with 1 rasher of bacon 1 egg, good quality ingredients. The location of the hotel was secluded, very close to the whole restaurant, the shores of the stunning Coniston Water and the local Pubs. Furthermore, in the lake district.

We had a brand-new superior room with an INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL view of the the lake. The location was magnificent, on the square, and the bed amazing.

All in all, it's luxury place that has amiable and extremely polite staff on staff member. The property has a particularly good and absolutely perfect location, close to Coniston town centre and other attractions around the lake, other bars in the village and Coniston for food.

The building and location were excellent, as were all the staff that we came into contact with. If in that area again I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Unfortunately the meals, especially the dinner which we had on the first night, let the hotel down. The quality of the food did not meet expectations and we ate out for the remainder of our stay..

Amazing views and cozy vibes
We stayed for a night and it was so lovely! The location is right by the water, and the views are just fine. The room was spacious enough, and we noticed how cozy the vibe was inside. Dinner at the restaurant was really good, but our room was a bit dark due to being at the back. Staff were super friendly!

We liked the location, the countryside is breathtaking. The room was very clean and the breakfast was substantial. The dining room staff were very obliging but the reception staff were a bit offhand.
The room asked for was a twin but it contained a double bed which in all fairness was converted to a twin but one of the beds had a single duvet on whereas the other one had the original double (or king size) duvet which made it most uncomfortable

The setting was beautiful and close enough to the centre of Coniston to be accessible; but far enough away to not feel right in the village itself. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful.
The noise from the neighbouring bathrooms was very, very disappointing. Every time they ran the cold water or flushed the toilet the noise in our bedroom was ridiculously loud. This affected a 'good nights sleep' as someone using the facilities in their room meant we were woken up in ours. This did put a dampener on our stay and would mean if I was looking for somewhere to stay it is unlikley I would want to return here for this reason alone. When you are doing a lot of walking sleep is very important and to have it disturbed in this was was disappointing.

Request an early breakfast as the kitchen may close early, ensuring you have a meal before your activities.

Almost everything. It's ranked as 2 stars, but I don't know why. You can get 4 star quality for 2 star price.
Low water pressure of the shower, but could stand it because the temperature was stable and bathroom itself was beautifully maintained.

I had some slight doubts about the hotel after reading other comments which said that it was shabby and in need of some refurbishment, but was very pleasently suprised to find our room looked as if it had just been "done up". This is a big Victorian house but our room was light, modern and very comfortable. The location is ideal - wonderful views of the lake and mountains and a couple of minutes walk brings you into the centre of Coniston where there are tea shops, cafes, and several excellent pubs serving good food and beer. The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. I can't recommend the Waterhead hotel enough! My wife and I will be going back again - and soon I hope!

Fine location and friendly staff
The hotel offers amazing views of Coniston Water and provides direct access to lovely walking paths and outdoor activities. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff were friendly, especially with the local walking recommendations. The room temperature control could improve, as it got quite warm at night.
